Workshop by Mycelial Space / Sarah Kolb and Jutta Strohmaier within the symposium and exhibition project Let’s talk about connecting

In an interweaving of artistic, scientific and practical approaches, the collaborative research project Mycelial Space makes fungi the linchpin for an experimental and open-ended exploration of relational and non-binary concepts of knowledge production and transfer. In participatory formats that promote practices of collaboration, sharing and caring, we critically question existing norms to open up perspectives for a good coexistence between the species.

What we can learn from engaging with fungi is that as living beings, we can benefit from synergies and sharing practices. Many paths lead to the knowledge of fungi. To paraphrase Tim Ingold: What storytelling, observing, dancing, drawing, hiking, writing, ... have in common is that, like mycelium, they "all run along lines" – so that at the end of the day, "every thing is a parliament of lines".

Within the workshop, we invite participants to collectively create a drawn mycelial network of stories, perceptions and ideas around fungi.
